Utica Awards $138,000 in Grants to 14 Minority and Women-Owned Businesses
UTICA, N.Y. -- Fourteen minority- and women-owned microenterprises in Utica received a total of $138,000 in grant funding to help grow their businesses.
Mayor Michael Galime and the City of Utica’s Department of Urban and Economic Development awarded the grants through the Utica Microenterprise Grant Program.
The funding comes from the City’s 2025-2026 federal Community Development Block Grant allocation.
The grants, which ranged from $5,000 to $10,000, are available to businesses with five or fewer employees located in the City of Utica.
The money can be used for capital assets like machinery and equipment, inventory, working capital or other soft costs.
The program also offers free training through MVCC’s thINCubator, covering topics such as business planning, legal issues, taxes, accounting, financing, marketing and employee management.
The businesses receiving grants are Gina’s Affordable Cemetery Maintenance, G & J Nail Spa, Soul One 12, Shop RTB, Royal Co., Catalina Spanish Cuisine, LAH’s Automotive, Griffin’s Pub, Uncs on the Grill, Papa’s Grill Mama’s Table, UGC Fabrication, JMR Visuals, Little Sunset Daycare and The Detailing Boyz.

Gina’s Affordable Cemetery Maintenance is pleased to announce its upcoming ribbon cutting ceremony, celebrating the 1 year anniversary of a locally focused business dedicated to helping families, caretakers, and communities preserve the beauty and dignity of cemetery grounds and memorial spaces.
The ribbon cutting ceremony will take place on Thursday, July 16, 2026 at 4:00 pm at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, 1427 Champlin Ave, Yorkville, NY – St. Cuthbert Section. Community members, local leaders, families, and friends are invited to attend, meet the owner, learn more about the company’s services, and celebrate this meaningful milestone.
Gina’s Affordable Cemetery Maintenance provides respectful, reliable, and affordable cemetery care services, including grave site cleanups, seasonal maintenance, headstone cleaning coordination, flower placement, trimming, and general upkeep. The business was created to offer compassionate support for families who may live far away, have limited mobility, or simply need a trusted local provider to help maintain the final resting places of their loved ones.
